How am I scrobbling music in the 2020s?
On my iPhone, I'm using QuietScrob.
On my Mac, I'm using NepTunes. I almost always play music with the Apple Music app, but sometimes use Spotify (the user-created playlists are better and easier to find).
For music that I’m personally not playing, I use a combination of the Shazam app on Mac (look for it on the Mac store) plus ShazamScrobbler. I only think to use it at a co-working space, but it's been really great to scrobble the music that I'm listening to there.
I haven't found a good equivalent for iOS (iPhone). AirScrobble has not been great. I have issues with the UI and it detecting the right song, and this is after accidentally subscribing to a year of the app. Music is everywhere (really, everywhere) and if you live in a city, you hear it at quite a few of the places you go. If you're a scrobbler like me, you should be able to scrobble it!
The Chrome Web Scrobbler is good for Bandcamp, but that's about all I use it for. I don't use it for YouTube music videos.
I will use Open Scrobbler when I'm unsatisfied with how any of the above has scrobbled anything.
